Tyler started Kindergarten yesterday and he did great, Mommy not so much, but Tyler did great (I guess that is the important part though!!)!
He jumped right out of bed at 6:30 in the morning (we will see how long that energy lasts) and was ready to go. He was a bit disappointed because he wanted to ride the bus to school in the morning with the neighbors but I wanted to walk him into his classroom and make sure he got there and was all fine (Mommy thing I guess?? A tad over-protective maybe? Do I care? Not really!!). So the WHOLE family took him to school and into his classroom where his class Paraprofessional was there, happily waiting for him (his teacher was busy). Tyler walked right in and started chatting her ear off with no looking back my way (sniff, sniff). I snapped some pictures (probably much more than Tyler wanted me to) and I desperately tried to get his attention to tell him bye. My attempt failed and I didn't even get so much as a "Bye Mom" or "I love you Mom" or a "I'll miss you Mom" or anything! Geez kid, can't you throw your mom a bone!! :)
I must let it be known that I did NOT cry ... my eyes filled with tears but nothing actually fell from my eyes so I feel that I can say with confidence that I did NOT cry! All that being said, I was very happy to see him comfortable enough to go into his room all fine and confident! I know that is the important part.
After school, he did get to ride the bus home, which he enjoyed. He quickly told me that he needed to start riding the bus to AND from school with Logan (our neighbor)!!
I tried like mad to find out about his day at school but that was like pulling teeth! After many attempts by me and Mason, this is what I got:
* He made stuff.
* He played.
* He made a friend, however he doesn't know his name.
* He saw our neighbor, Logan, in the cafeteria.
* He did NOT get to play with the same toys he did at Open House.
* They read and made a Gingerbread man, and did the hunt around the school for him.
I guess that info will have to do! :)
All ready for his first day!
Yes, those are cupcakes I made for the teacher; a little brown nosing never hurt anyone!
A shot of his classroom with the Para.
Tyler got straight to work on the activity on his table all the while telling the Para that he already knew how to do the activity because he did it in Pre-K! (Maybe that is why her hands are on her hips???)
At open house - from left to right:
Ms. Howard (the teacher), Tyler (the Kindergartner), and Mrs. Fields (the Para)
Getting off the school bus (Yes, I took pictures of that too!!)

Tyler completed his first day and is still smiling!
** PS - Tyler DID get to ride the bus to school this morning! HOWEVER, let the record show, he did not like it in the morning saying it was "terrible" and has asked me if he can be a car rider in the morning from now on! So all that fuss was for nothing!! (FYI - the morning bus is High School, Junior High, AND Elementary all together! I think that most certainly would be terrible!) **
